Scores of West Midlands children to benefit from new resource to tackle youth violence

16th July 2026

Thousands of youngsters across the West Midlands will benefit from a new education platform designed to help teachers and police reduce violence.

Schools across the region are having the ‘Pol-Ed’ platform rolled out, hosting a wide range of educational resources to support officers and teachers in the delivery of crime prevention workshops.

Users will be able to access dedicated support, worksheets, and 400 lesson plans – covering themes from exploitation, consent, and wellbeing to anti-social behaviour, to hate crime, and how to be a responsible citizen. The lessons cover all the statutory RSHE curriculum on the 2026 guidance.

It provides practical, ready-to-use, materials to help young people understand the dangers of violent behaviour and the consequences. It is designed to support real conversations in the classroom and within communities – helping young people make safer choices and look out for each other.

Originally developed by West Yorkshire Police and teaching staff, the product is being rolled out across the region by the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership, with over 1000 users registered so far.

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, said: “This platform brings together into one place a wealth of knowledge for teachers and police officers across the region.

“It is a completely free resource which lays out how to run effective and meaningful crime prevention workshops with our young people, whilst allowing space for professionals to customise the plans to the needs of their audience.

“I wholeheartedly believe the prevention of crime will always be better than having to deal with the consequences of crime and that the education and safeguarding of our children has an important part to play, so I am delighted to be supporting the launch of Pol-Ed in the West Midlands.

“I call on schools and educational institutions across the region to sign up to the platform and utilise the resources available.”

The programme covers a wide range of topics, from anti-social behaviour (ASB) to knife crime, helping educate and safeguard young people.
