The West Midlands Violence Reduction Unit funds local sports activities that are designed to support, engage and protect young people in the region.

During 2019/20, the West Midlands Violence Reduction Unit and West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner laid on over 60 diversionary activities designed to support communities and young people during the school holiday period. This engaged thousands of children and teenagers aged 8-18 years.

In 2020/21 the West Midlands Violence Reduction Unit will commission activities which:

  • Deliver sport, youth, arts and music projects in the West Midlands to divert young people, aged 8-18 years, away from violence.
  • Build young people’s confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
  • Provide opportunities for young people to continue their development for years to come.
