West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership are committed to working with schools and other educational institutions to support, engage and protect their children and young people.

 

We offer a menu of training, interventions and resources to support the development of robust violence prevention programmes in education settings, all of which are fully funded. Precious Lives – Knife crime awareness intervention

Target Audience: Children and Young People (Aged 10-18)
Duration: 1 hour

Provided by the Office of the police and crime commissioner. Lived experience facilitators lead powerful discussions with young people from their own experience of violence.   

An Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Practice (ACES )

Target Audience: Professionals
Duration: 2.5-3 hours
Type: Online, in person or regular webinar
  1. Develop understanding of the concepts behind the potential impact of childhood adversity and trauma across the life course.
  2. To understand how to recognise signs of trauma in behaviour.
  3. Recognise potential impact of working with trauma, including concepts such as vicarious trauma.
  4. Gain basic understanding into how organisations can begin the journey towards a trauma informed organisational culture.

Working with Trauma in the Early Years

Target Audience: Professionals
Duration: 1.5 hours
Type: Online, in person or regular webinar
  1. To understand natural responses to threat and trauma
  2. To consider the types of trauma a young child may experience and the potential impact.
  3. To develop a basic understanding of attachment theory
  4. To explore strategies that promote secure attachment

Ending Male Violence against Women and Girls

Target Audience: Professionals

  1. Understand what is meant by violence against women and girls (VWAG)
  2. Consider the government strategy to ending male violence against women and girls.
  3. Gain an understanding of domestic abuse and how you can offer support.
